Copy printed on canvas of The Art of Painting, an excellent example of the technique of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Vermeer is known for the almost photorealistic depiction of details in his paintings. His technique is a matter of debate worldwide, but also of intense debate as to whether he could have rendered the subject so faithfully without the use of mechanical means, especially since there is little evidence that he used sketches to prepare his works.
